On January 3, 2024, Western Containers took a significant step forward by adding a Mercedes Benz Actros 5 L 2658 truck to their fleet. This move is set to revolutionisze container cartage to final destinations, offering Western Containers greater control and efficiency with less reliance on third-party providers. The new Actros 5 is equipped with the latest in environmental and safety features, including advanced engine technologies for improved efficiency, ergonomic cabin designs, Mercedes PowerShift automated transmission, and various safety systems like Active Brake Assist and Sstability Ccontrol.

In an era marked by rising fuel costs, global demand surges, supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, and union trade disputes, the cost of transporting goods has become increasingly burdened with wait times and demurrage charges. Western Containers Services is strategically positioned to mitigate these challenges, providing reliable service to NSW's import and export businesses.

Rick Johnson, Managing Director at Western Containers, understands the complexities of cartage from the wharf to the depot and knows where he can benefit customers. He emphasiszes that ensuring timely delivery to the end customer can yield significant savings for businesses. The company will grow a fleet of modern, environmentally friendly trucks with the latest safety features, is a testament to this commitment. Complete control over scheduling will reduce delays, enhance reliability, and ensure on-time deliveries.

Chris Divis, an industry veteran with over 35 years of experience in trucking and transport, said, “One of the best ways we can reduce costs for customers is to ensure they get their goods sooner. Deliveries need to be on time and scheduled to suit the customer. This is how Western Containers will distinguish itself from other container cartage options.”

Craig Lennon, Operations Manager at Western Containers has focused his decades of industry experience in 2023 to drive Western Containers forward as it made significant investments at the depot level, including a dedicated power station for over 100 refrigerated container points, new bonded storage areas, onsite fumigation, and AA14.4 rRural tailgate inspections.
